Honey Pancake

A soft, lightly sweet pancake with a subtle savory twist

Description

Simple Honey Pancake is easy to make and widely enjoyed by food lovers. Commonly served in hotels and restaurants, this pancake can be prepared quickly at home with basic ingredients. The combination of honey, vanilla, and a hint of zeera (cumin) gives it a unique flavor that stands out from regular pancakes.

Ingredient

  • Egg: 1
  • Vanilla essence: 1 tsp
  • All-purpose flour (Maida): 1 cup
  • Baking powder: 1 tsp
  • Baking soda: 1/2 tsp
  • Salt: 1/2 tsp
  • Sugar: 1 tbsp
  • Zeera (cumin) powder: 1 tsp
  • Oil: 1 tbsp
  • Milk: 1/3 cup
  • Honey: 1 tbsp

Preparation Method:

  1. Prepare the Batter Base
Crack the egg into a mixing bowl and whisk lightly. Add vanilla essence, sugar, honey, and oil. Mix well until smooth.
  2. Add Dry Ingredients
Sift in the maida. Add baking powder, baking soda, salt, and zeera powder. Mix gently to avoid lumps.
  3. Adjust Batter Consistency
Gradually add milk while whisking. The batter should be smooth, thick, and pourable — not runny.
  4. Heat the Pan
Heat a non-stick pan over low to medium heat and lightly grease it with oil.
  5. Cook the Pancakes
Pour a ladle of batter onto the pan and spread gently. Cook until bubbles appear on the surface, then flip and cook the other side until golden brown.
  6. Serve
Serve hot with extra honey, butter, or fresh fruits if desired.

Chef’s Note

  • This pancake is not a classic sweet pancake — it’s a sweet-savory fusion.
  • If you prefer a traditional taste, skip the zeera powder and slightly increase sugar or honey.
  • Always cook pancakes on low to medium heat to avoid burning while ensuring a soft interior.
  • For fluffier pancakes, let the batter rest for 5–7 minutes before cooking.
